Mobility, recovery and injury (p)rehab for weekend warriors, couch potatoes, Olympians, and everyone in between.
Hey there, Reader!
What’s a really good way to chill out your whole body and brain? Focus on your feet! Here’s why:
1️⃣ We call the sequence below the “Shoe Prison Breakout” 😂 Our feet spend lots of time crammed into shoes that aren’t always optimally designed to let them move naturally. Aside from making your actual footsies hurt, this also limits the function of the shin and calf muscles, which in turn has implications for your knee health! Letting your toes bust out of their shoe prison and move freely is really good for your feet and lower legs in general.
2️⃣ The feet have tons of nerve endings, so giving them a gentle massage or a little stretch has a nice calming effect on the whole nervous system. Hence why most people find a foot massage to be really relaxing! This is also a great technique to have in your back pocket anytime you’re feeling stressed, or need an assist to drift off to sleep.
3️⃣ One word: bunions! Ugh. If you like wearing narrow, pointed, or high-heeled shoes, nothing wrong with that, but be sure to offset their effect with regular foot TLC to reset that nice spread of the toes and keep painful bunions at bay. Enough said 😬
All of the above is built into the little flow in the video below! Simply click on the image to follow along and try it out for yourself. This video *MAY* also be part of a new program we’re launching next week, along with a special discount for our newsletter subscribers, hint hint 😉
(** Please note that not every movement is suitable for all bodies. Please listen to your body and defer to your medical provider if you have any concerns, injuries, or conditions that affect your movement, or are unsure if a particular movement is safe for you! **)
We’ll be back next Monday with a new video for you 😉 In the meantime, feel free to reach out with requests for particular mobility or mindfulness sequences - we're here to help! Have a great week, friends!
Let's move better, together.
