5 minutes to a tension-free upper back 🙂

Published 13 days ago • 1 min read

The thoracic spine is naturally the stiffest, least mobile part of your back. Here's how to un-scrunch this common area of tension!

Hey there, Reader!

🌟 Happy Monday, friends! 🌟

… and welcome to another edition of our new mini-series, Mobility Monday! We figured we could make the transition into the week a little sweeter by sharing ✨FREE✨ movement and mobility sequences and techniques with you all.

Today’s thoracic rotation exercise is a great way to start your week with more ease in your whole upper body- a common area of tightness for many of us. Special shout-out to desk jockeys, commuters, weightlifters, baseball players, swimmers, and any other throwing or overhead athletes - you’ll love the impact this quick reset will provide for this common area of discomfort and tension 😊

Give it a try! At just 5 minutes long, this sequence is an effective way to get some movement into your thoracic region; notorious for being the stickiest, least flexible part of your spine. This hard-to-mobilize region deserves a little extra TLC, and really benefits from an assist to maintain its existing range of motion. All you need is a yoga block or folded-up blanket/ towel, and a little bit of floor space.

You can follow along with this week's video below:

(** Please note that not every movement is suitable for all bodies. Please listen to your body and defer to your medical provider if you have any concerns, injuries, or conditions that affect your movement, or are unsure if a particular movement is safe for you! **)

We'll be back next Monday with a new sequence for you 😉 In the meantime, feel free to reach out with requests for any areas of your body that need a little extra attention- we're here to help. Have a great week!

Let's move better, together.
